"The Fairy King's Sword" by Nicholas Goeser
The Fairy King's Sword
By: Nicholas Goeser
“I offer a boon, if you’ll take it.”
The Fox raised his ears.
“Such boldness should be rewarded.”
Atop his trove of stolen treasures, his tail curled around a golden crown. The man from whom he stole it had somehow found him.
“You would be as strong as steel, and should any wolf bite you, their fangs will break, their mouths will bleed.”
The greedy Fox grinned and nodded. The king waved a hand.
In place of where the Fox sat, a sword stood instead.
Avaricious to the end, the Fairy King’s sword now stole men’s lives, it’s greed unquenchable. "

“Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living. It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope.”
