Thanks to everyone who sent us a story! We received a whopping 631 submissions! We’re just over halfway through reviewing but hope to return final decisions in the next few weeks.
The Quest Concludes

The hero came panting to the throne, his cloak in rags. He dumped a sack of gold at the King’s feet, laying his sword upon it. He crossed his arms and said, “I have done as you asked. Restore my people’s lands.”
“You’ve been gone a long time,” said the king.
The hero nodded.
“There have been some changes around here. I’m afraid these days I’m just a figurehead. You’ll have to make an appeal to parliament.”
The hero roared, then reclaimed his gold. Every last coin of it was spent on lawyers, but his case is still pending.
