"Partaking in Old Traditions" by A. L. LaForge
Submission update
We’re still finalizing our decisions for our January/February opening. We received a lot of great stories and decisions are hard. If you haven’t heard from us yet, you should hear back by the end of the week!
In the meantime, we’re kicking off with our first coffee-themed story!
Partaking in Old Traditions
By: A. L. LaForge
Unit-5445 wrapped their hands around the hot mug. “Am I doing this right?”
“Yeah, just don’t burn yourself. Before you taste, take a deep breath over it.”
Unit-5445 did as instructed. “I must admit, that is nice.”
“I told you smell receptors would be worth the investment. Now, take a sip.”
Unit-5445 let the hot liquid slide over their newly installed “taste buds.” They were silent a moment. “Roger … it tastes awful.”
Roger laughed and slapped his thigh. “All part of the experience, buddy.” He clinked his own mug against Unit-5445’s. “Welcome to the morning shift, friend. Sugar’s on the table.”
