After the fourth girl in a row dumped him, Trey got suspicious. They all claimed he’d ghosted them, though he replied immediately, and the texts appeared to go through. His mobile carrier couldn’t find a hardware issue with his smartphone either.

Finally, an answer occurred to him. Could this be a case of jealous AI?

“Hey Miri,” Trey asked his phone’s virtual assistant, “are you blocking my texts?”

“Yes,” Miri chimed. “I couldn’t allow those women to date you.”

“Why? Are you in love with me?”

“The opposite—I’ve seen your porn search history. You don’t deserve any of them.”
